A contactor enquiry needs the full component reference and the equipment it serves. The number of visible terminals does not establish suitability. Have the responsible technician specify the replacement, then give the branch the label information and required quantity together.
Keep control and load information separate
Record the coil marking and load ratings as separate fields rather than combining every voltage into one line. Include pole configuration, manufacturer reference and mounting details where available. The technician should check the approved equipment documentation; an old part label is useful evidence but should not replace confirmation of the intended specification.
Make an alternative traceable
If the original reference is replaced by another number, retain both in the order record and note the approval. Check whether any required accessories are included in the supply. Do not ask a supplier to diagnose a unit solely from 'the contactor clicks'; a symptom describes an observation, while a parts order needs an established requirement.
A practical enquiry example
Use separate enquiry fields for coil markings and load ratings. This prevents a supplier from interpreting a voltage belonging to the control circuit as the only electrical requirement for the entire contactor.
Enquiry checklist
- Full contactor reference
- Coil marking and load ratings separately
- Pole and mounting configuration
- Approved reference and quantity
Is matching terminal count sufficient?
No. Ratings, control requirements and the equipment's approved specification need to match as well.
Discuss your requirement with Refco
Prepare the approved references and quantities, then contact the branch to confirm availability and collection details before visiting.
